About the delivery system: Scheduling

30/11/2019

You can control both what dates and what times we show your ads.

Note: Your ad will be eligible to start running after we review and approve it. This review process typically takes up to 24 hours, although in some cases, it may take longer. If you've scheduled your ad to start running immediately, it'll start running once it's been reviewed.

If you want an ad to start running on a specific date in the future, you can:

  • Create your ad in advance and turn it off, then turn it on when you want it to start running
  • Set a schedule while creating your ad set

Set a schedule while creating your ad set

To set start and end dates/times, select Set a start and end date in the "Schedule" section of ad set creation and choose the start and end dates/times.

To schedule specific times of the day or days of the week to run your ad, make sure that you've chosen a lifetime budget, then:

  1. Go to the "Ad scheduling" section of ad set creation.
  2. Select Run ads on a schedule.

Note: You may need to click Show advanced options first.
  3. Click the drop-down to decide if you want your schedule to correspond to the time zone of your ad account or the time zones of the people seeing your ads.

Note: You can also view your ad reports with either a "Time of day (ad account time zone)" or "Time of day (viewer's time zone)" filter - learn how
  4. Choose the times of day (in blocks of at least an hour each) and days of the week that you want your ad to run

You can change your schedule at any time by editing your ad set.

Additional information

Why did my ad get impressions outside of my schedule?

We don't deliver your ads outside of the schedule that you set. However, it's possible that a small amount of people could see them outside your schedule. This is because we can control when we deliver ads, but not when people actually see them. Here's an example of how this could happen:

Say your schedule for the day is to deliver ads between 1 pm and 5 pm. At 4:58 pm, someone in your target audience opens Facebook. As their News Feed populates with stories, we deliver your ad into it. However, your ad is low in their feed. The person spends ten minutes viewing a video, commenting on a friend's status and Liking a few posts that are higher in their feed. Then he or she gets to your ad, seeing it at 5:08 pm. In this scenario, the ad was delivered within the schedule, but seen outside of it.
