Find your Facebook ad charges on your credit card statement

30/11/2019
If you recently received a small charge on your credit or debit card, it's most likely a temporary authorisation to validate your card. We make these authorisation charges and then immediately invalidate them, so they'll be removed from your credit or debit card automatically (typically within 3-5 working days). If the charge remains on your statement for longer than that, contact your bank to ask why the charge hasn't been removed even though it's been voided by Facebook.

Each transaction you make on your ad account will have a 10-character reference number associated with it. Reference numbers can be found on your credit card statement, ad receipt and billing invoice. Your reference number will start with FACEBK* or FACEBOOK INC.*, and 10 characters will follow.

In the Billing section of your Ads Manager, every transaction in the table will have a reference number in the Payment method column. (Please note that this is different to a transaction ID.)

You can use this reference number to find the charges you see in Ads Manager on your credit card statement. Here's an example of what your reference number will look like:

Bear in mind that your statement may not include the full 10-character reference number. If your statement shows an incomplete reference number (such as one that has only six characters), we suggest that you contact your bank to get the full number.

If you already know the reference number of a charge and want to find it in Ads Manager, you can search for it by going to the Billing section of your Ads Manager, clicking Search by reference number and following the instructions to get a receipt for your payment. Your receipt will include details such as how much you paid, why you were charged, what payment method you paid with and more.

Things to bear in mind

  • If you receive notifications from your bank when you make a payment for your Facebook ads, they may show a reference number that's shorter than the 10-character number mentioned in this article. If you see a 6-character reference number instead of a 10-character number, your notification probably isn't showing the full number. In this case, we suggest that you contact your bank or review your bank statement to find the full number.
  • If you don't recognise activity on your ad account, take these steps.
