  • Share your plans in various formats including email, a preview link or .csv format
  • Buy your plan in the updated Ads Manager

Campaign Planner

Access to Campaign Planner is currently being rolled out to qualified ad accounts that have used reach and frequency buying. It may not be available to you at this time. If you can't find Campaign Planner using the steps below, you most likely don't have access to it.

You can find Campaign Planner by clicking Ads Manager in the top left-hand corner of Ads Manager and selecting All tools at the bottom of the drop-down menu that appears.

To return to Ads Manager from Campaign Planner, select the same drop-down menu and select Ads Manager from the list.

Create a plan

  1. Go to Campaign Planner.
  2. Choose the account in Business Manager that you want to create plans for.
    • If you aren't connected to an account in Business Manager, we recommend that you ask someone in your agency or company to add you to the Business Manager account. Alternatively, click Request Access and add your details to the form. Note: It may take up to five working days to provide access to Campaign Planner using the form. Learn more about assigning roles in Business Manager.
  3. Create a new plan by clicking the Create Plan button.
  4. Type the name of your plan in the Untitled plan section.
  5. Click Add a Version to create and compare different versions of a plan.
  6. Type in a name for each version you create in the Untitled version section of each version.

Note: You can create up to ten versions within a single plan.

  7. Fill in the different sections for each version, such as your desired reach, budget and campaign dates.
  8. To reserve one of your plans with the reach and frequency buying tool, click the Reserve for Purchase button and choose which plan or plans you'd like to reserve.

Check that your prediction is up to date

Next to each version, you'll see a status column that indicates whether each version is up to date and ready to reserve. Hover over the symbol in the Status column to learn more about the status of your campaign.

When your prediction is updated, your budget will stay the same but your reach will change to reflect the latest prediction.

See old plans and versions

You can reference old plans and versions on the home screen of Campaign Planner.

To get back to the home screen, click > All Tools > Campaign Planner.

Share a plan

You can share plans and specific versions of a plan that you create in Campaign Planner using the Share button. When you share a plan, you can choose which details you want to share or don't want to share, such as pricing details and placement distribution. You can also allow certain recipients of your shared plan to purchase the plan or make a copy of it.

Note: You can share your plans with anyone who is in the same Business Manager as you. If you want to share details of your plan with someone who is not in the same Business Manager as you, you can do so manually by taking screenshots of your plan or writing out your plan details.

Steps for sharing a plan:

  1. Select the Share button.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select how you'd like to share your plan. You can share plans through:
    • Email
    • Shareable link
    • CSV file

  3. Choose whether you'd like people who see your plan to be able to purchase or save a copy of the plan.
    • Allow purchasing: Toggle this option on or off if you want or don't want people who see your plan to be able to purchase inventory from that plan. If you allow purchasing, people who see your plan will be able to purchase directly within Campaign Planner instead of having to recreate the plan in Ads Manager.

Note: The recipient of your shared plan must have advertiser permissions for the Page and an ad account associated with the plan to be able to purchase that plan.

    • Allow copy saving: Toggle this option on or off if you want or don't want people who see your plan to be able to save a copy of it to their Campaign Planner. Saving a copy is useful when you have multiple members of a team who need to access or reference plans. It also makes collaborating across planning and buying teams easier.

Note: The recipient of your shared plan must be listed as an employee in the Business Manager associated with the plan and must have at least analyst access to the Page and an ad account associated with the plan.

  4. Select which details about your plan you'd like to share. Anyone with access to your shareable link, email or CSV file will be able to see the details you specify. Details that you can choose whether or not to share include:
    • Pricing (budget and CPM)
    • Audience
    • Objective and ad type
    • Placement distribution
    • Frequency distribution
    • Spend per day
  5. Click Send.

Editing a shared plan:

Bear in mind that people can make edits to your plan once you've shared it with them and allowed them to save a copy of it to their Campaign Planner. If someone you've shared your plan with makes edits, you will not be automatically notified. If you want to stay up to date on edits people have made to your plan after you've shared it with them, have them share their edited copy with you.
