Set up deep links in collection and dynamic ads

30/11/2019

When you create a collection or dynamic ad, you have the option of setting up links that send people to a specific page on your website or in your app. These are called deep links.

You can also add tracking parameters to your deep links if you use a third-party system to measure your ads.

Create a deep link for websites

  1. Go to ad creation.
  2. Select a supported objective for the type of ad that you're creating.
  3. Fill in the details of your ad set.
  4. In the Ad section of ad creation, look for the section labelled Deep link to website.
  5. Enter the base URL you'd like people to go to when they click on your ad (for example, https://www.jaspersmarket.com/clothing-search/results).
  6. Click the + icon to select any tags that you'd like to use in your URL. For example, if you want to create a URL for customers who've searched for a specific brand of clothing, you can use the following tag: product.brand. Your resulting URL may look like this: https://www.jaspersmarket.com/clothing-search/results/brand=manifest.
  7. Note: The URL standard used on your website may be different from the URL used in your ad. Make sure that you use the URL standard for your website and insert tags where applicable.

Create a deep link for mobile app ads

  1. Go to ad creation.
  2. Select a supported objective for the type of ad that you're creating.
  3. Fill in the details of your ad set.
  4. In the Ad section of ad creation, look for the section labelled Mobile app.
  5. Click Choose app and select the app you'd like to use for your ad.
  6. Set your App link destination preferences. The App link destination allows you to control where a person is sent if they already have your app installed and where a person is sent if they don't have your app installed.
  7. Find the Deep link for mobile section and enter the base URL you'd like people to go to when they click on your ad (for example, https://www.jaspersmarket.com/clothing-search/results).
  8. Click the + icon to select any tags that you'd like to use in your URL. For example, if you want to direct people to a full-screen experience after they click on a specific piece of clothing, you can use the following tag: product.name. Your resulting URL may look like this: https://www.jaspersmarket.com/clothing-search/results/name=manifest.

Add third-party tracking to deep links

If you use third-party reporting tools to gather insights about your ads (for example, when someone clicks on a product in a collection), you can add tracking information to your deep link on desktop or mobile.

To add third-party tracking to your deep links:

  1. Go to ad creation.
  2. Select a supported objective for the type of ad that you're creating.
  3. Fill in the details of your ad set.
  4. In the Ad section of ad creation, look for the section labelled Deep link to website or Deep link for mobile.
  5. Enter your tracking referral URL.
  6. Click the + icon to select any tags that you'd like to use in your final URL.
