2-second continuous video view buying

2-second continuous video view buying is an optimisation and billing option for video ad buying through the Video Views objective. This optimisation can be used with auction or reach and frequency campaigns. It's currently available for video ads at least three seconds in length.

2-second continuous video view buying ensures that your video ads get the most video plays of two continuous seconds or more. Most 2-second continuous video views will have at least 50% of the video pixels on screen, though in some cases, such as when part of the screen is obscured by a system or app overlay (due to user behaviour such as sharing, saving or receiving a notification), less than 50% of a video's pixels may be in view.

Placements and ad formats available for 2-second continuous video view buying

When you choose to optimise for 2-second continuous video views, your ads can be seen on the following platforms:

  • Facebook: Facebook feeds, in-stream videos, suggested videos (visible only on mobile devices, not available on Facebook desktop feeds)
  • Instagram feed
  • Audience Network: Interstitial, in-stream videos

The following ad formats are available:

  • Single video

  • Slideshow

  • Instant Experience

2-second continuous video views reporting specifications

  • 2-second continuous video views reporting data is available for video view campaigns that include the placements and ad formats eligible for 2-second continuous video view buying starting from 21 March 2018.

Steps to optimising for 2-second continuous video views

To create a video ad campaign that will deliver ads to people most likely to watch your video ad:

  1. Go to Ads Manager.
  2. Select Video views as your objective.
  3. At the ad set level, choose 2-second continuous video views as your optimisation for ad delivery.

    You can also choose your billing type under When you get charged. Remember that the billing option you choose won't affect the way your ad is optimised for delivery.

  4. Finish creating your campaign and book it.
