Create a custom breakdown

You can create a custom breakdown based on your campaign names (e.g. tactic, placement, creative) to see more detailed comparisons of your conversion performance data. By default, Facebook Attribution provides pre-built breakdowns by campaign and source, which you can use to view your data by either the name of the campaign that your ad was part of, or by the source where your ad was shown.

To create a custom breakdown:

  1. From your Custom reports dashboard, click Breakdowns in the top left to open the drop-down menu.
  2. Click Add a breakdown.
  3. Enter the name of your custom breakdown. This will also be the name of the first column in your report when this breakdown is selected in the future.
  4. Define the groups that you'd like to compare within the breakdown. For example, if you create a custom breakdown for tactics, you might want to create groups such as prospecting or retargeting. Enter the name of the group, as well as the terms from your campaign names that should be included in this group. Note: Only campaign names that fit these criteria will be shown in your reporting.
  5. Click Add a group to add any additional groups.
  6. Click Save.

Note: Custom breakdowns only consider campaign names, and create groups based on the specific terms and phrases that you've specified in your group names. We recommend that you confirm that any custom breakdown you created is properly capturing the intended campaigns.
