Change your channel details

If you use the name and photo from your Google Account for your YouTube channel, you can update this information at any time. Keep in mind this will change your name and photo across Google services.

If you have turned on channel translations, your channel name may not update after you change it. When you change the name on your account, it will only be updated in your original language on YouTube. If you want your new name to be shown in all languages, please make sure you update your translations too. You can turn off this feature if you want your name to be the same in every language.

Note: You can also use a different name on YouTube than your Google Account name. 

If you aren't able to follow these instructions, you are likely using the old version of YouTube. If you're using a newer browser, update to the current version of YouTube.

Change your channel name

  1. Sign in to your channel on YouTube.
  2. Click your account icon > settings .
  3. In the "Overview" section, click Edit on Google next to your channel name. 
  4. Update the channel name and click OK.

Change your channel icon

You can change your channel icon an unlimited number of times.

  1. On a computer, sign in to your channel on YouTube.
  2. Click Menu .
  3. Select My Channel.
  4. Point your cursor at your channel icon and click Edit .

Change your channel description

If you customize the layout of your channel:

  1. Sign in to your channel on YouTube.
  2. Click Menu .
  3. Select My Channel.
  4. Select the About tab.
  5. Under "Description," click Edit .
  6. Click Done.

If you don't customize the layout of your channel:

  1. Sign in to your channel on YouTube.
  2. Click Menu .
  3. Select My Channel.
  4. Under your channel name, click Edit .

✅ Android

If you use the name and photo from your Google Account for your YouTube channel, you can update this information at any time. Keep in mind this will change your name and photo across Google services.

  1.  In the mobile app, tap your account icon .
  2. Tap My Channel.
  3. In the right corner of your channel page, tap Settings .
  4. On the right, tap Edit .
  5. Enter your updated name and tap OK.

Change your channel icon

  1. Tap your account icon .
  2. Tap My Channel.
  3. In the right corner of your channel page, tap Settings .
  4. Tap the camera icon in the middle of the screen.
  5. Choose to take a photo or select a photo from your phone

Change your channel description

  1.  In the mobile app, tap your account icon .
  2. Tap My Channel.
  3. In the right corner of your channel page, tap Settings .
  4. On the right, tap Edit .
  5. Enter your updated description and tap OK.

If the instructions above don't lead you to the right place, you probably have not yet received the new version of this feature, which is slowly launching to all users. Please use the instructions below.

  1. In the mobile app, tap Account .
  2. Tap your channel icon to navigate to your channel.
  3. In the right corner of your channel page, tap Settings .
  4. On the right, tap Edit .
  5. Enter your updated description and tap OK. 

 

✅ iPhone & iPad

If you use the name and photo from your Google Account for your YouTube channel, you can update this information at any time. Keep in mind this will change your name and photo across Google services.
