Watch YouTube on TV with a TV code

You can use your phone, tablet, or computer to control the YouTube experience on TV by linking your device to your TV with a TV code.

How to use your phone, tablet, or computer to activate YouTube on TV

Link with TV code

You can link your TV device with your phone, tablet, or computer when you’re not connected to Wi-Fi.

Find the TV code on your TV

  1. Launch the YouTube app on your TV device.
  2. Go to Settings .
  3. Go to the Link TV and Phone screen.
  4. Scroll down to Link with TV code. A blue TV code will appear on your TV.
  5. Now grab your phone, tablet, or computer.
The TV code should be made of numbers. If the code is made of letters, repeat the steps above to get a numeric code.

Enter the TV code on your phone or tablet

  1. Open the YouTube app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Select Watch on TV under the menu.

  3. Tap ENTER TV CODE, under the Link with TV code section.
  4. Take the blue TV code that appears on your TV and enter it on your phone or tablet.

Enter the TV code on your computer

  1. Visit youtube.com/pair on your computer.
  2. Take the blue TV code that appears on your TV and enter it in the Link with TV code section.
  3. Click Add this TV.

Remove devices linked with TV code

Follow these steps to remove linked TV devices:

On TV

  1. Launch the YouTube app on your TV device.
  2. Go to Settings .
  3. Go to the Link TV and Phone screen.
  4. Scroll down to Delete Devices.

On phone or tablet

  1. Go to Watch on TV in the menu.

  2. Select Delete Devices.
  3. Tap DELETE to remove the linked TV device.

On computer

  1. Visit youtube.com/pair.
  2. Under Linked TVs, click Edit, then Click Delete .
