Create an event Custom Audience for event ads

30/11/2019
This feature is gradually being rolled out and may not be available to you at this time.

You can connect with people who've shown interest in attending your events by creating an event Custom Audience. An event Custom Audience allows you to include or exclude people who have responded to one specific event or any event on your Page.

How to create an event Custom Audience

The following information only applies to things that you can do from a computer at the moment.

To create an event Custom Audience of people who've engaged with events on your Page:

  1. Go to your Audiences.
  2. Click the Create Audience drop-down and choose Custom Audience. If you've never created an audience before, you'll see a Create a Custom Audience button, not a drop-down. Everything else will be the same.
  3. Click Engagement.
  4. Click Event.
  5. Click the drop-down and choose the option that you want to use in your audience. Depending on your event and whether you work with a Facebook ticketing partner to sell tickets, you might have these options:
    • People who have responded with Going or Interested
    • People who have responded with Going
    • People who have responded with Interested
    • People who have visited the event page
    • People who have liked, shared or commented on the event page
    • People who have engaged with the ticketed events on Facebook and either have purchased or haven't purchased tickets
    • People who have purchased tickets on Facebook
    • People who haven't purchased tickets on Facebook
  6. Fill in the in the past field with the number of days that you want to go back to find people who interacted with your event for inclusion in your audience. We can go back up to 365 days.
  7. Note: If you entered 30 days and a person engaged with the event 29 days ago, they'll be in your audience. However, if they don't engage with the event the next day, they'll be removed from your audience. Anyone new who responds within the time you choose will be added to the audience. This means that the audience is constantly refreshed, so you don't need to edit or create a new event Custom Audience unless you want to change the time or type of engagement.

  8. Click the Page drop-down and select the Page that has the event you want to use to create your audience.
  9. Click +Select specific event(s) to easily search your events.
  10. Optionally, click Include More and Exclude to add more criteria to your audience.
  11. Optionally, add an audience name and description.
  12. Click Create Audience.

Now your audience will start being built and this might take up to 24 hours to complete depending on the time frame you chose.
