Troubleshoot unsupported platforms

30/11/2019

If you're running ads on a third-party advertising platform that currently doesn't support Facebook-provided click and impression tags but you'd like them to support these tags, please reach out to those platforms directly.

If you're trying to apply click and impression tags on a platform that doesn't support certain types of tags, consider the following solutions:

  • The platform doesn't accept Javascript third-party tags. Facebook Attribution provides two types of impression tags, image tags and Javascript tags. If the publisher doesn't allow the Javascript tag, try implementing the image tag. The image tag can track media events and will enable attribution reporting. However, the image tag will not provide viewability or fraud information.
  • The platform or publisher doesn't have macros that are compatible with Facebook Attribution. Facebook's dynamic tags leverage third-party macros for workflow efficiency. However, it's still possible to measure clicks and impressions on platforms or publishers that don't have the necessary macros. Go to Settings > Ad Platforms, then click on the name of the platform to view more details. In the Platform section, click Import > Site-Served Ads to create click and impression tags that don't rely on third-party macros. These tags are individual pixels that will need to be applied to your off-Facebook media by the platform or publisher. Site-served tags will enable the same attribution reporting as dynamic tags.
  • The platform only accepts click tags, not impression tags. Many platforms don't allow impression tags. For example, search platforms are often click-based and don't provide data on impressions.
