Get data for YouTube Analytics groups

A YouTube Analytics group is a customizable collection of up to 200 of your videos, playlists, channels, or assets. With groups, you can arrange similar pieces of content together and see their data in one place.

Note: YouTube Studio beta currently only supports video groups.

View group performance

  1. In YouTube Studio beta, select Analytics from the left menu.
  2. Click to expand any clickable card or chart.
  3. In the top left, next to your channel name, select the down arrow.
  4. Select the Groups tab, then choose a group.

You can also use the Groups tab to edit  or delete  existing groups. Download data for a group using the download arrow .

Creator Studio Classic instructions

  1. Open the Analytics tab of Creator Studio.
  2. In the top right, select the Groups drop-down menu.
  3. Select Browse all groups.
  4. Select a group.

You can also use the Browse all groups pop-up to copy , edit , or delete  existing groups. Multi-Channel-Networks can use the "My groups" and "All groups" tabs to see groups created by the current user, or all users.

Compare groups

You can compare groups in Creator Studio Classic. You can compare the performance of two groups by selecting Comparison... in the top right of the page. Note that not all reports are available for comparison.

Create groups

  1. In YouTube Studio beta, select Analytics from the left menu.
  2. Click to expand any clickable card or chart.
  3. In the top left, next to your channel name, select the down arrow.
  4. Select the Groups and then Create new group
  5. Enter a name for your group, select videos, and Save

  1. Open YouTube Analytics.
  2. Select the type of group you’d like to create from the Groups drop-down menu in the top right.
  3. Enter a name for the group.
  4. Depending on the group type, select channels, videos, playlists or assets. You can search by name or ID.

Find your video IDs

The video ID is part of the watch page URL and is a unique identifier for the video, e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEOID

The playlist ID is part of the playlist page URL and is a unique identifier for the playlist e.g.  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAYLISTID

Find your asset IDs

Asset IDs are unique, automatically created identifiers for your assets.

You can find your asset IDs by:

  • Downloading an asset based report from YouTube Analytics
  • Looking at your Asset report in your YouTube Content owner account
  • Exporting your assets from the Content ID > Assets section in your YouTube Content manager

Find your channel IDs

Channel IDs are unique to channels, but are not always visible in a channel's URL.

You can find your channel IDs by:

  • Exporting a list of your channels from the Channels overview page
  • Selecting the content roll-up “All partner uploaded” from the menu in YouTube Analytics to see all your channels. Then download a report that contains channel data.
  • Searching for channel IDs in your Performance Reports in your YouTube Content manager.

Group types and visibility 

Channel owners can create video groups and playlist groups. Groups can be seen and edited by anyone with access to the YouTube account.

Multi-Channel-Networks can also create channel and asset groups. Groups you create will be visible to everyone who has access to the YouTube or CMS account, but only you will be able to edit the group.
