A boosted event is an ad that you create that may help you raise awareness for your event.

After you've created an event, you can target your event to People who like your Page, People who like your Page and their friends or People you choose through targeting. If you choose people through targeting, you can target based on location, interests, age and gender.

Bear in mind that boosted events must follow Facebook's Advertising Policies.
