Create & manage playlists

A playlist is a collection of videos. Anybody can make playlists and share them. Want to put together an epic gym mix or your favorite soccer goals? How about sharing the best cooking videos with your best friend? Playlists are for you.

Tip: Learn how your friends can contribute videos to your playlists.

Make & find your playlists

If you aren't able to follow these instructions, you are likely using the old version of YouTube. If you're using a newer browser, update to the current version of YouTube.

 

  1. Start with a video you want in the playlist.
  2. Under the video, click Add to .
  3. Select Watch later, Faves, or a playlist you've already created, or click Create new playlist. 
    1. If you create a new playlist, enter a playlist name.
  4. Use the drop down box to select your playlist's privacy setting. If it's private, only you can view the playlist.
  5. Click Create.

To find your playlists, go to the Guide  and click Library.

Note: It's not currently possible to delete playlists in the current desktop experience. To edit or delete playlists:

  1. Go to your channel page.
  2. Select Edit layout.
  3. You'll be taken to the old design to make changes.

Make & find your playlists

YouTube app

  1. Start with a video you want in the playlist.
  2. Tap the Save icon  below the video to automatically save it to the last playlist you’ve saved to, or to your Watch Later playlist. A message will pop up at the bottom of your screen confirming which playlist the video was added to.
  3. To change where your video is saved, tap Change on the pop up. Select from the list of your playlists where your video should be saved. 

Go to the Library tab to view all of your playlists.

Mobile site

  1. Start with a video you want in the playlist
  2. Under the video, tap Add to Playlist Add to playlist  .
  3. Tap Create new playlist Add to playlist .
  4. Enter a playlist name.
  5. Use the drop down box to select your playlist's privacy setting. If it's private, people cant' find it when they search YouTube.

To get to your new playlist, tap Account . You'll see all of your playlists listed.

Delete a playlist

  1. Go to the Library tab .
  2. Tap the playlist you want to delete under the “Library" section.
  3. Tap the playlist’s menu icon .
  4. Tap Delete. 
  5. Select OK.

Note that your old playlist may live on in viewers’ watch histories.

After you delete a playlist, the playlist URL and title will no longer be visible or searchable in YouTube Analytics. Data associated with the playlist such as Watch time will still be part of aggregate reports, but will not be attributed to the deleted playlist.
