Sync passwords across your devices

You can sign in on different devices when you save your passwords to your Google Account. When you're signed in to Chrome or on your Android device, you can choose to sync your passwords to your Google Account.

An app or site's password won't show up on other apps or sites.

Save passwords to your Account

If Offer to save passwords is on, when you sign in to websites in Chrome or some apps on your Android device, you'll be asked if you'd like to save your sign-in information. Learn how to manage saved passwords.

To save your password for the website or app, select Save. If you have more than one Google Account signed in to your Android device, you can choose the account where you want to save the password.

You can view your saved passwords any time at passwords.google.com or in Chrome's settings.

Stop offering to save passwords

You can let Chrome remember passwords for websites and sign you in automatically using the passwords saved in your Google Account.

If you don’t want to save passwords to your Google Account, you can turn the setting off:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click Profile Profile and then Passwords.
  3. Turn off Offer to save passwords.

Stop offering to save passwords for specific sites or apps

You can choose to never save passwords for specific websites. When you're prompted to save a password, select Never. You won't see an offer to save that password again.

You can view or manage the websites that will never offer to save passwords:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click Profile Profile and then Passwords.
  3. Under "Never Saved," see the websites that will never offer to save passwords. To remove a site, click Remove Remove.

You can sign in on different devices when you save your passwords to your Google Account. When you're signed in to Chrome or on your Android device, you can choose to sync your passwords to your Google Account.

Turn Smart Lock for Passwords on or off

Smart Lock for Passwords is on by default, but you can turn it off or back on using the following steps:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, find Google settings in one of these places (depending on your device):
    • Open your device's Settings app. Scroll down, and select Google.
    • Open a separate app called Google Settings Google Settings.
  2. Tap Smart Lock for Passwords.
  3. You can turn the following settings on or off:
    • Smart Lock for Passwords: Offer to save passwords for websites in Chrome and Android apps, and sign in using passwords that you've already saved in your Google Account.
    • Auto sign-in: Automatically sign in to compatible apps and websites connected to your Google Account across your devices.

Turn off Smart Lock for Passwords for specific apps

You can choose to never save passwords for specific apps installed on your device. When you're prompted to save a password with Smart Lock, select Never. You won't see an offer to save that password again.

You can view or manage the apps that will never offer to save passwords:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, find Google settings in one of these places (depending on your device):
    • Open your device's Settings app. Scroll down, and select Google.
    • Open a separate app called Google Settings Google Settings.
  2. Tap Smart Lock for Passwords.
  3. Under "Never save," tap Add app not to be saved.
  4. Tap the app you want.
