Customize what you see in Discover
✅ Android
You can choose the types of cards you want to see in Discover in the Google app or when you’re browsing the web on your phone. For example, you can see updates for your favorite TV show or sports team.
Step 1: Turn on Web & App Activity
To customize Discover, turn on "Web & App Activity,” to save your searches and browsing activity.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app
.
- Tap Menu

- Turn on Web & App Activity.
Step 2: Choose the types of cards you want to see
Add or delete topics you follow from the Google app
- On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app
.
- Tap Menu
Customize.
- Choose topics to add or delete:
- Add: At the top, tap Follow Topics.
- Delete: Next to the topic, tap Remove
. If you don't see this option, you haven't followed any topics yet.
Delete topics you follow from your browser
- On your Android phone or tablet, go to google.com in your browser.
- Tap Menu
Settings.
- Under “Discover,” tap Manage interests.
- Uncheck any topics you don’t want to see updates for.
Follow new topics
When you search for an interest, you can follow it to get updates in Discover.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app
or go to google.com in your browser.
- Search for an interest, like a TV show or a sports team.
- If you see a card with "Follow," tap Follow
.
Step 3: Change how often you see topics in Discover
- On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app
or go to google.com in your browser.
- At the bottom right of the card you like, tap Control
.
- Tap More
to see more cards for this topic.
- If you don’t want to unfollow a topic, but you want to see less of it in Discover, tap Less
.
- If you don’t want to unfollow a topic, but you want to see less of it in Discover, tap Less
Stop seeing certain topics or stories from certain sources
- Open your Google app
or go to google.com in your browser.
- At the top right of the card, tap More
Not interested in [Topic] or Not interested in stories from [Source].
Bring back a card you removed
- On your Android device, open your Google app
.
- Tap Menu
Settings
Discover.
- Under "Get notified about," turn on the cards you want to see.
If you have a Pixel, Nexus, or Google Play edition device, instead swipe right on your Home screen. Then, tap More
Customize Discover.
Change which ads you see
You can’t stop seeing all ads, but you can change which ads you see. You can recognize these cards by the word “Ad”. To stop seeing ads from a certain advertiser:
- At the top right of an ad from that advertiser, tap More
Why am I seeing this ad?
- Turn off Show ads from [advertiser].
To change which ads you see, go to Ads Settings. Discover can personalize which ads you see based on some of your Google settings and activities. To see and adjust past activity saved to your Google Account, go to My Activity.
Control video autoplay
Videos in your feed could start playing automatically without sound. You can turn these video previews on or off, and change when they play. Learn how to change your Google app settings.
✅ iPhone & iPad
You can choose the types of cards you want to see in Discover in the Google app or when you’re browsing the web on your phone. For example, you can see updates for your favorite TV show or sports team.

- On your iPhone or iPad, visit the Activity controls page.
- Turn on Web & App Activity.

- At the top left, tap Settings

- Choose topics to add or delete:
- Add: At the top, tap Follow Topics.
- Delete: Next to the topic, tap Remove

Delete topics you follow from your browser
- On your iPhone, go to google.com in your browser.
- Tap Menu
Settings.

- Open your Google app
or go to google.com in your browser.
- At the top right of the card, tap More

Bring back a card you removed
- On your iPhone or iPad, open your Google app

- At the top left, tap Settings
Discover.
- Under "Following," tap View all settings.
- Find the category for the topic you removed. Then, tap View all settings.
- Under “Not Interested," find the topic. Then, tap Remove
.
Change which ads you see
You can’t stop seeing all ads, but you can change which ads you see. You can recognize these cards by the word “Ad” in a bottom corner. To stop seeing ads from a certain advertiser:
- At the top right of an ad from that advertiser, tap More
Why am I seeing this ad?
- Turn off Show ads from [advertiser].
