Add a comment moderator to your channel

Right now, email invites for new comment moderators aren't being sent. However, anyone that you add as a comment moderator can still review and flag comments on your videos. Learn more on our Known Issues page.

You can assign moderators to your channel who can flag comments on your videos for removal. Multiple comment moderators are allowed on a channel and any user with a YouTube channel can be a moderator.  

When the moderator removes a comment from your channel, watch page, or live chat, you'll see it in your Held for Review queue as "Flagged by moderator" until you approve or remove it.

Add moderator in Community Settings

Use this method to make any user with a YouTube channel a moderator on your channel.

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. In the top right, click your account icon > Creator Studio.
  3. In the left menu, select Community > Community settings. 
  4. In the Moderators box, insert the YouTube channel URL for the moderator(s).
  5. Click Save.

Add moderator in Comments hub

Use this method to promote a user who has commented on your channel to a moderator.

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. In the top right, click your account icon > Creator Studio.
  3. In the left menu, select Community > Comments. 
  4. Next to the user you want to make a moderator, click the flag icon .
  5. Select Let this user moderate comments.

YouTube Studio beta

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio beta. If you haven't tried the beta, learn more.
  2. In the left menu, click Comments.
  3. You'll see all the comments for your channel.
  4. Click the Menu icon Options > Add this user as a comment moderator.
