Use sitelink extensions

30/11/2019

To add more links to your ads, create sitelink extensions. Sitelink extensions can take people to specific pages on your site—your store hours, a specific product, or more. When someone clicks or taps on your links, they jump right to what they want. Sitelinks can encourage meaningful clicks, and can generate new business for you.

Before you begin

Campaign types you can use: Sitelink extensions are compatible with campaigns on the Search Network.

Tips: When setting up your sitelink extensions, keep these best practices in mind:

  • Keep link text short. Short links mean that more links can show, so be sure to stay within limits.*
  • Create links that reflect your site. Look at your website's navigation bars for easy sitelink ideas.
  • Add descriptions. Descriptions for each link make your ad more helpful to people viewing your ad. They don’t reduce the number of links that can show.
If you don't have time to write descriptions for your sitelinks, Google Ads can automatically generate them for you, as long as you’re opted into dynamic ads sitelink extensions.
* Sitelink text is limited to 25 characters in most languages, or 12 characters in double-width languages (like Chinese, Japanese, and Korean).

Sitelinks at the ad group level

Before you create sitelink extensions at the ad group level, keep the following in mind:

  • By default, an ad group uses the sitelink extensions of the campaign it's part of.
  • If you create sitelinks for an ad group, they will override campaign-level sitelinks. You can also choose to show no sitelinks for an ad group.
  • To restore the default of using campaign-level sitelink extensions, simply remove ad-group level sitelinks and campaign-level sitelinks will return.
