Remove extensions

30/11/2019

Extensions add information about your business to your ads and typically boost your ads' performance. If you want to remove extensions, though, follow the instructions in this article.

The new Google Ads experience is now the exclusive way for most users to manage their accounts. If you’re still using the previous AdWords experience, choose “previous” below. Learn more

Manual extensions

To remove a manual extension from your campaign:

  1. Sign into your Google Ads account.
  2. Click Ads & extensions in the page menu, then click Extensions at the top of the page.
  3. Check the box to the left of the extension(s) and click Edit in the blue bar.
  4. Select Remove from the drop-down menu.

Removing an extension from one campaign won’t remove the extension from other campaigns.

Automated extensions

Automated extensions can improve the quality of your ad by including information about your business or changing the format of your ad. The Google Ads system includes automated extensions to your text ads when it predicts that the extensions can improve your ad's performance.

Turning off an automated extension stops that extension from showing with ads in the account.

To turn off an automated extension:

  1. Sign into your Google Ads account.
  2. Click Ads & extensions in the page menu, then click Automated Extensions at the top of the page.
  3. Click the three-dot menu  on the right, then select Advanced options.
  4. Select Turn off specific automated extensions and choose which extension to turn off.
  5. Select your reason for turning off the extension and add additional comments.
  6. Click Turn off.

Note

When you turn off automated call extensions or automated message extensions, you block new automated extensions from being created, but existing automated extensions may still show with your ads.
