Tag your location on videos and live streams

Tagging your location on your videos and live streams lets users find your videos by that location and see other videos that were tagged in the same location.

You can see tagged locations on the watch page on any of your videos. Viewers will see the tag on any of your public videos as well as unlisted or private videos you share with them. Viewers can click on location to search for public videos from the same location.

YouTube Studio beta

  1. Open YouTube Studio beta.
  2. Go to "Videos."
  3. Click on the title or thumbnail of a video.
  4. Click Details.
  5. Click Advanced.
  6. Under "Video location," search for a location to tag. 
  7. Select the location and click Save in the top right.

Mobile Live creation

  1. Tap Capture .
  2. Tap GO LIVE.
  3. Create a title, then select a privacy setting.
  4. To add a location, select a suggested location or tap Add Zoom in and search for a location.

Note: You may be asked to grant a Location Permission in the app to make it easier to tag your stream with a location.

VOD creation flow

  1. Tap Capture .
  2. Tap Video.
    • To upload a video from your phone, select Upload.
    • To record a new video, select Record a video.
  3. To add a location, select a suggested location or tap Add Zoom in and search for a location.

Note: You may be asked to grant a Location Permission in the app to make it easier to tag your video with a location.

Edit location data of a video

  1. Tap your account icon at the top right.
  2. Select My channel.
  3. Tap videos.
  4. Tap Menu , then tap Edit.
  5. Select a suggested location, or tap Add Zoom in and search for a location.

Note: If you add a video location for a public video, this information will be available not only on YouTube but also on other Google products. It may also surface in other apps or across the web through our various developer APIs.
