Uninstall Google Chrome

✅ Computer

You can remove Chrome from your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux), or delete the Chrome app from your iPhone or iPad.

Windows 10

  1. On your computer, close all Chrome windows and tabs.
  2. Click the Start menu Start menu and then Settings.
  3. Click Apps.
  4. Under "Apps & features," find and click Google Chrome.
  5. Click Uninstall.
  6. Confirm by clicking Uninstall.
  7. To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check "Also delete your browsing data."
  8. Click Uninstall.

Windows 8, 7, or Vista

  1. On your computer, close all Chrome windows and tabs.
  2. Open the Control Panel:
    • Windows 7 & Vista: Click the Start menu Start menu and then Control Panel.
    • Windows 8: Point to the top right of your screen. Click Settings and then Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a program or Programs and Features.
  4. Double-click Google Chrome.
  5. To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check "Also delete your browsing data."
  6. Click Uninstall.

Windows XP

  1. On your computer, close all Chrome windows and tabs.
  2. Click the Start menu Start menu and then Control Panel.
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Click Google Chrome.
  5. Click Remove.
  6. To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check "Also delete your browsing data."
  7. Click Uninstall.

Mac

  1. At the bottom of your computer screen, in your Dock, right-click Chrome.
  2. Select Quit.
  3. Open Finder.
  4. Go to the folder containing the Google Chrome application on your computer.
    • Tip: It may be in your Applications folder. If not, go to File and then Find, and search for "Google Chrome."
  5. Drag Google Chrome to the Trash.
  6. Optional: Delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history:
    1. At the top of the screen, click Go and then Go to Folder.
    2. Enter ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome.
    3. Click Go.
    4. Select all the folders, and drag them to the Trash.

Linux

  1. Open a terminal window.
    • On GNOME, Unity, and Cinnamon environments, press Ctrl + Alt + t.
    • On KDE environments, go to Application Menu and then System and then Konsole.
  2. Enter the uninstall command:
    • Debian-based systems: Enter sudo dpkg -r google-chrome-stable.
    • Other systems: Enter sudo rpm -e google-chrome-stable.
  3. When prompted, enter your computer's password.
 

If you delete profile information when you uninstall Chrome, the data won’t be on your computer anymore. If you are signed in to Chrome and syncing your data, some information might still be on Google's servers. To delete, clear your browsing data.

Disable Chrome

Chrome is already installed on most Android devices, and can't be removed. You can turn it off so that it won't show on the list of apps on your device.

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications.
  3. Tap Chrome Chrome. If you don't see it, first tap See all apps or App info.
  4. Tap Disable.

Use another browser

If you don't want to use Chrome, you can install and use another web browser.

  2. At the top left of the icon, tap Remove Remove.
  3. To remove Chrome and delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, tap Delete.

If you delete profile information when you uninstall Chrome, the data won’t be on your iPhone or iPad anymore. If you are signed in to Chrome and syncing your data, some information might still be on Google's servers. To delete, clear your browsing data.
