View, delete, or pause watch history (signed in)

YouTube watch history makes it easy to find videos you recently watched and improves your video recommendations. You can control your watch history by deleting or pausing your history. You can delete individual items or delete your entire history. When you pause history, any videos that you watch while history is paused won't show in history and won’t be used to improve your recommendations. You can unpause your history to start recording history again.

If you've been offline or lost your internet connection after pausing your watch history, we recommend you check your watch history when you get back online to make sure history appears as you expect. As always, you can delete any videos that appear in your history. To view or delete what you've previously searched for on YouTube, check out your search history.

When you're signed in, changes you make to your account's watch history will appear on all devices you sign in to with this account. When you're signed out, you may still receive recommendations based on the watch history of your specific browser or app. To protect your privacy, this history isn't viewable but can still be cleared or paused. Those controls will apply to the browser or app. 

You can access your watch history within the YouTube app via the instructions below. Your watch history is saved in your Google Account if Videos you watch on YouTube is turned on.

To see a comprehensive view of all of your activity across YouTube apps, as well as control your saved activity, visit My Activity.
Note for YouTube Music users:
  • Your watch history from the YouTube Music app will not appear in your main YouTube watch history (i.e., in the YouTube app or on youtube.com). Videos watched in the YouTube app or on youtube.com don't appear in the YouTube Music app watch history. To see all videos watched in all YouTube apps, visit myactivity.google.com.
  • If you pause your watch history, this applies across your Google account. This means if you pause or unpause history in the YouTube Music app, this action pauses or unpauses history for your account across all YouTube apps, including youtube.com.
  • Deleting a video from your history also applies across your Google account. For example, if you delete a video from your YouTube app history, and you watched exactly the same video in the YouTube Music app, it will also be deleted from the YouTube Music app.

View, delete, or pause watch history (signed in)

Go to myactivity.google.comto find videos that you've viewed while signed in. This includes videos that you have watched while signed in to the YouTube app on mobile devices, as well as youtube.com. It also includes videos you've watched in a YouTube player on other websites while signed in to Google Chrome. Changes you make to your account watch history will be reflected on all devices you sign in to with this account.

MyActivity

All activity for your YouTube account — from all devices and all apps — is reflected in myactivity.google.com. 
If you're using the main YouTube app, you can also see your activity within the app. Learn more about how to find this information below. (Note: YouTube Music activity is not included in the main YouTube app). 

iPhone & iPad

To view your watch history, go to the Library tab  and tap History.
  • Remove a video: Next to the video details in the History page, tap Menu and select Remove from Watch History.

To clear or pause your watch history, while on your History page, tap on the top Menu .

  • Clear watch history: Tap Clear watch history.
  • Pause watch history: Tap Pause watch history.

Search your watch history on an iPhone or iPad to find videos that you've watched before.

  1. Go to the Library tab .
  2. Tap History.
  3. Type what you're looking for in the box at the top of the page labelled  Search watch history.
  4. Tap Search at the bottom of the keyboard.

Other mobile devices

To view your watch history, go to the Library tab  and tap History.
  • Remove a video: Next to the video details in the History page, tap Menu and select Remove from Watch History.
To clear or pause your watch history, while on your History page, tap on the top Menu .
  • Clear watch history: Tap Clear watch history.
  • Pause watch history: Tap Pause watch history.

Mobile site

To view your watch history, go to the Account  tab and tap History. 

  • Remove a video: Tap Menu  next to the video details and select Remove from Watch History.

To clear or pause your watch history, go to the menu and tap Settings > History.

  • Clear watch history: Tap Clear all.
  • Pause watch history: Tap Pause.

Computer

If you aren't able to follow these instructions, you are likely using the old version of YouTube. If you're using a newer browser, update to the current version of YouTube.

Current desktop experience

Access your watch history by selecting History in the Guide .

  • Remove a video: Select Remove from watch history Delete to the right of the video details to remove a video from your watch history.
  • Clear watch history: Select Clear all watch history to delete your entire history.
  • Pause watch history: Select Pause watch history to pause your history. Videos viewed while your watch history is paused will not show up in your watch history or influence your recommendations. 

Old desktop experience

Access your watch history by selecting History in the Guide  or the hourglass  at the bottom of any YouTube page.

  • Remove a video: Select Remove from watch history Delete to the right of the video details to remove a video from your watch history.
  • Clear watch history: Select Clear all watch history to delete your entire history.
  • Pause watch history: Select Pause watch history to pause your history. Videos viewed while your watch history is paused will not show up in your watch history or influence your recommendations. 

TV, game console, or media streaming box

View your watch history by selecting History in the Guide .

To clear your watch history, go to Settings  in the Guide, then select Clear watch history.

Clear or pause watch history (signed out)

Even when you're signed out, YouTube improves your recommendations based on the videos you watch on that device. You can clear or pause the history from your device -- see the instructions above for each device to learn how.

Note: To access your watch history on your computer when you’re signed out, please find the hourglass at the bottom of any YouTube page.

Search watch history on a computer

Search your watch history on a computer to find videos that you've watched before. 

  1. Go to "Search watch history" at the top of the Search page.
  2. Type what you're looking for in the box.
  3. Click Search .
