An advertising coupon is a form of payment for your Facebook ads. They can be redeemed for advertising on Facebook and/or Instagram, depending on the type of coupon.

You can receive a coupon from Facebook in two ways:

• Through periodic in-product promotions or through facebookmail.com.
• Through partnerships that Facebook has with other sites or companies.

Currently, you can't purchase or request coupons directly from Facebook.

How you'll be charged for ads when you use an advertising coupon

Once you add a coupon to your account, it will be charged first for advertising costs that you accrue after it's been redeemed. We'll deduct from your coupon once a day until it's used up or expires.

Bear in mind that a coupon can't be used towards any advertising costs that you accrued before it was added to your account. Those costs, as well as costs that you accrue after your coupon is gone, will be charged to the primary payment method of your ad account or your prepaid balance (if you use a manual payment method). This is why a payment method is required before you can add a coupon to your account.

It's also important to remember that when you use a coupon, you aren't just paying for a single ad with that coupon. Instead, a coupon is activated on your account, and then it will be used to pay for ad costs from all the ads running on your account. You can always check whether a coupon is activated on your account and how much is left on it by going to your payment settings:

How can I make sure that I don't spend more than the amount of my coupon?

If you don't want to spend more than what your coupon is worth, we offer a few ways to ensure that you spend no more on ads than you want to:

• Set a campaign spending limit. This is the maximum amount that you're willing to spend on a given advertising campaign.
• Set an account spending limit. This is a maximum amount that your ad account can spend over its lifetime across all the campaigns that it's running.

Do advertising coupons expire?

Every advertising coupon has a limited time in which it can be redeemed. The expiry date is included with the coupon code when you receive it. The coupon will expire regardless of whether or not it has been activated.
