About connections targeting
Connections targeting is a tool that helps you find your audience based on how they're connected to your business.
Context
You can access this tool through the "Connections" sub-section of ad set creation. It allows you to target ads to people who are connected to your Page, app and/or event. A person may be considered "connected" to one of those if they've engaged with them or are a friend of someone who has. You can include or exclude these connections, depending on what you're trying to accomplish. You can include or exclude one connection type per ad set, or click Advanced Combinations from the drop-down menu to set up a series of parameters a person must meet to be in your target audience.
Notes:
- You must be an admin of a Page, app or event to use it for connections targeting.
- We generally recommend not using too many parameters as part of an advanced combination of connections. It may lead to an audience that's too small and specific to be effective. Bear in mind that within any target audience you create, we automatically try to find the people likely to get you the result you told us to optimise for in ad set creation. Because of this, you don't have to worry about refining too much. Monitor the "Audience Definition" panel and your estimated results to get a sense of what type and size of audience will work best for you.
Example
You could seek to widen your audience by targeting people who are friends of those connected to your Page.
