Create and manage a line of business

To use Facebook Attribution, you'll need to first create a line of business. Lines of business group together your ad accounts and assets (e.g. apps, pixels, offline event sets) so that you can measure and understand the effect of your campaigns holistically, across your ad accounts.

If you advertise for multiple distinct brands on Facebook, you have the option to organise your people, ad accounts and assets into separate lines of business. With multiple lines of business, each of your brands can focus on those campaigns that are most relevant for your brand.

When you create your line of business, Facebook Attribution will begin collecting data for your attribution reporting from that point on.

Create a new line of business

To create a new line of business:

  1. Go to Facebook Attribution.
  2. If this is your first time using Facebook Attribution, you'll be presented with instructions to help set up your line of business. Click Get Started.
  3. Choose the option that best matches your business: Single business; Separate brands, verticals or regions; or Agency. Click Confirm, then follow the on-screen instructions to organise your ad accounts and data sources (e.g. pixels, apps and offline event sets) into distinct lines of business.
  4. Click Finish.

An ad account can only be assigned to one line of business at a given time. If you've previously used Facebook Attribution with a default line of business that was created for you, you may need to remove any ad accounts that you'd like to assign to your new line of business.

Note: If you're getting started with Facebook Attribution for the first time and you're setting up your line of business, you'll have to set the currency and time zone that will be used in your attribution reporting for all people assigned to the line of business. Bear in mind that you won't be able to edit these settings later.

Add or assign people, ad accounts or assets to a line of business

Even after you've created a line of business, you can add ad accounts or assets to your line of business to start collecting data for your attribution reporting from that point forward. To add or assign people, ad accounts or assets to a line of business:

  1. From your Business settings in Business Manager, select Line of business from the menu on the left.
  2. Select your line of business, then select the relevant category: People, partners, ad accounts, apps, pixels, offline event sets or custom conversions.
  3. Click Add people to add people to your line of business, or click Assign partner to assign the line of business to a partner. Click Assets, then select Ad accounts, Apps, Pixels, Offline event sets or Custom conversions to add the desired asset to the line of business.

Remove assets or people from a line of business

To remove assets or people from a line of business:

  1. From your Business settings in Business Manager, select Line of business from the menu on the left.
  2. Select your line of business, then select the relevant category: People, partners, ad accounts, apps, pixels, offline event sets or custom conversions.
  3. Hover over the name or ID that you'd like to remove, then click X.
