Add partners to your list of approved Pages

30/11/2019

Page approvals is a Page setting that helps business partners ensure that they are only tagged in the branded content posts they want to be tagged in, typically by creators or publishers with whom they have a partnership agreement.

The setting is switched OFF by default, but Page admins can turn the setting on or off at any time, as they see fit.

Turn Page approvals on or off

  1. Go to your Page.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Branded content in the menu.
  4. Under Page approvals you will see an ON and OFF switch.

When it's on

When the Page approvals setting is on, anyone attempting to tag the business partner who isn't on their list of approved partners will be blocked from publishing the post. However, the business partner can still approve or remove individual tagged posts made by creators or publishers not on their list.

Add approved partners

When the Page approvals setting is on, sponsoring Pages can add the Pages with whom they have a branded content agreement to a list of approved Pages. That way, business partners don't need to approve an individual branded content post made by partners who they trust.

To add Pages to this list of trusted partners:

  1. Go to your Page settings.
  2. Click on Branded content.
  3. Scroll to the section called Add approved Pages.
  4. In the dialogue box, enter the Page or verified profile name of the partner you want to add to your list of approved partners.

When the approved partner attempts to tag your Page as their business partner in the future, they will be able to do so without further approval.

If you remove a Page from your approved list, you'll still be tagged in previous branded content posts that they tagged your Page in. Learn how to remove your Page from an existing post that you've been tagged in.

Approve or remove tags

If the Page approvals setting is on and a creator or publisher who is not on your list of approved Pages tries to tag your Page in a branded content post, they will be blocked from publishing it.

When this happens, Facebook will automatically notify the tagged business partner. The business partner can also review and approve or remove tags through one of several surfaces:

  • Branded content settings
  • Publishing tools
  • Branded content insights
  • In a separate timeline modal only visible to users with Page roles that allow them to manage branded content

By either clicking on the link included within the notification or by going to one of the above surfaces, the business partner will be able to see what the post looks like and approve it by selecting Approve Page or deny it by selecting Remove tag. See the image below as an example.

If the business partner clicks Approve Page, the post is published and the creator or publisher's Page is added to the business partner's approved list.

The creator or publisher attempting to post the content will receive a notification that it has not been posted and is pending approval.

If the creator or publisher not on the business partner's white-list of approved Pages is attempting to tag the business partner's brand in the API and not via Page Composer, they will simply be blocked from tagging the Page.

The creators or publishers creating the branded content can track the status of their requests in their Page settings. Requests can either be approved, pending or denied. Any profile not on a business partner's approved list who is attempting to tag the business partner's Page will have their post blocked.

When it's off

When a Page has Page approvals turned off, creators or publishers can tag the business partner's Page at any time without prior approval. The business partner will get a notification whenever they are tagged in a branded content post, but the responsibility lies with them to approve or remove individual tags after the posts have been published.

Review posts that you've been tagged in

Business partners will be able to view all the posts they've been tagged in and monitor the performance of the posts in the Branded content section of their Page's Insights tab. See below for an example.

Once a business partner approves the post, they will be able to boost it, despite not being the original creator of the content. Learn more about boosting branded content.

Approve or remove tags

While anyone can tag a business partner and publish a post if the business partner's Page approvals setting is off, the business partner can still approve posts and remove tags after the content has already been posted. If a business partner approves a post they've been tagged in, the creator or publisher who tagged them is automatically added to the business partner's list of approved Pages.

If the business partner clicks Remove tag for an individual post while the Page approvals setting is off, their Page will no longer be tagged in the post.

Blacklist Pages

As a further step, business partners can blacklist unauthorised creators or publishers from tagging their Page in the future. To blacklist a creator or publisher's Page:

  1. Go to your Page.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Branded content in the menu.
  4. Scroll down to find Blocked Pages.
  5. Type in the name of the Page that you want blacklisted.
