Move YouTube channel to Brand Account

30/11/2019
If you aren't able to follow these instructions, you are likely using the old version of YouTube. If you're using a newer browser, update to the current version of YouTube.

When a channel is linked to a Brand Account, multiple people can manage it from their Google Accounts. If you already have a YouTube channel, you can associate it with a specific Brand Account.

Before you start: Check to see if your channel is already connected to a Brand Account:

  • If your channel is not already connected to a Brand Account: Follow the steps below.
  • If your channel is already connected to a Brand Account: You can add channel managers or follow the steps below to move the channel to a different Brand Account.

If you just want to change the name on your channel, follow the instructions to change your channel name.

Change channel Brand Account connections

If your YouTube channel is connected to your personal Google Account, you can move it to be connected to a new or existing Brand Account. This will let you have a different name on your channel than your Google Account, but still manage it from your Google Account. You can also add multiple managers to the channel.

Note that you can only move your channel to a Brand Account that's owned by your Google Account.

Move channel to a new Brand Account

You can create a new Brand Account with your Google Account, then connect your YouTube channel with it.

  1. Sign in to YouTube on a computer or using the mobile site.
  2. Go to your channel list.
  3. Click Create a new channel.
  4. Fill out the details to name the Brand Account and verify your account. Then, click Done. This creates your new Brand Account.
  5. Use the account switcher in the top right to sign in to your personal YouTube channel (the one you want to move to the Brand Account).
    • Note: It’s important that you are signed into the channel that you want to move to the Brand Account (rather than being signed into the Brand Account). This will ensure that your channel is not unintentionally deleted during the move.
  6. Go to your advanced account settings. You can get there by clicking your account icon in the top right > Settings or . Next to your name information on the overview page, click Advanced.
  7. Under "Account information," click the Move channel to Brand Account link.
  8. Enter your password. You'll see some information about your channel and what it's currently connected to.
  9. Click Select desired account and choose the Brand Account from the list.
  10. In the "Already has a YouTube channel" box, click Delete channel. Note: This will delete any existing channel (along with all of its videos) that is already associated with the Brand Account.
  11. Check how your channel name will appear after moving, then click Move channel.
  12. To add a channel manager, follow the instructions to add channel managers.

Move channel to an existing Brand Account

If your YouTube channel already owns a Brand Account or is already connected to a Brand Account, you can connect the channel to any Brand Account you own.

  1. On a computer, sign in to the channel that you want to move on YouTube. If the channel is connected to a Brand Account, sign in as the Brand Account owner.
  2. Go to your advanced account settings. You can get there by clicking your account icon in the top right > Settings or . Next to your name information on the overview page, click Advanced.
  3. Under "Account information," click the Move channel to Brand Account link.
    • Note: Before you move your channel, verify that you are signed into the channel that you want to move. This will ensure that your channel is not unintentionally deleted during the move.
  4. Enter your password. You'll see some information about your channel and what it's currently connected to.
  5. Click Select desired account to see the list of available options for your account.
  6. Check how your channel name will appear after moving, then click Move channel. Note: This will delete any existing channel (along with all of its videos) that is already associated with the Brand Account you're moving to.
  7. To add a channel manager, follow the instructions to add channel managers.

Note that some content can't be moved: All comments made by the channel, sent and received messages, verification badges, and automated filter community settings. You'll see a warning if your channel has this content.

If you have a custom URL, it will not be moved to your new channel.

My choice isn't listed in "Available pages"

If the Brand Account you want to move your channel to is owned by a different Google Account, you can transfer ownership of that Brand Account to your Google Account. Once your Google Account owns the Brand Account, you'll be able to choose that Brand Account when moving your channel.

If your channel is currently connected to a Brand Account, you can transfer ownership of your page to the other Google Account, and then sign in to that account to move your channel.
