Set up comment filters

30/11/2019

Beginning November 09, 2018, YouTube comments will no longer support Circles and Squares in our hidden user lists. Any comments made on your channel from users in a Google+ Circle or Square that were previously hidden will continue to be hidden.

Moving forward, new comments from these users will not be hidden. You can hide new comments from users by adding those specific individuals to your hidden users list. Learn more about managing hidden users.

You can set up filters to help you manage new comments and messages, including selecting users whose comments will always be approved or blocked.

Select users for automatically approved comments

Select Approved users to show the users whose comments will automatically be approved and shown (even if you've chosen to hold comments for approval).

  1. Go to your Creator Studio.
  2. Go to your channel's Comments tab by selecting Community > Comments in the left menu.
  3. On a comment left by the user you want to make an approved user, click the drop-down arrow next to the flag icon.
  4. Select Always approve comments from this user.

Block specific users from leaving comments

Select Hidden users to show the users whose comments will never be shown.

  1. Go to your Creator Studio.
  2. Go to your channel's Comments tab by selecting Community > Comments in the left menu.
  3. On a comment left by the user you want to make a hidden user, click the drop-down arrow next to the flag icon.
  4. Select Hide this user's comments on this channel.

Add words & phrases to your blocked words

You can add a list of words and phrases that you want to review before they're allowed in comments on your video or channel.

  1. Go to your Creator Studio.
  2. Go to your channel's Comments tab by selecting Community > Comments in the left menu.
  3. In the top right, click settings .
  4. Add the words in the Blocked words box next to Blocked words. Use a comma to separate words and phrases in the list.

Comments closely matching these terms will be held for your approval — unless they were posted by someone on your approved user list.
