About using Firebase and AdWords together

30/11/2019

Firebase is Google’s app software development kit (SDK) and analytics tool. When you link Firebase and AdWords, you get access to powerful tools that help you see how your AdWords campaigns are doing.

This article is an overview of how you can use Firebase with AdWords to gain insight into your advertising and app performance. You’ll find links to setup instructions throughout the “How it works” section below.

Benefits

  • Import conversions from Firebase without needing to add new code to your app.

  • Use audiences created in Firebase.

How it works

Firebase is a mobile platform that you can use to quickly develop apps. Google Analytics for Firebase makes it easy to see how your apps are performing. If you don’t have a Firebase account, you can learn more about getting started in the Firebase help center and on the Developers website.

To link Firebase projects to AdWords, your Google Account needs to be an administrator for an AdWords account as well as owner of a Firebase project. If you track conversions through a manager account, or if you want multiple managed accounts to have access to Firebase audiences, you should link Firebase to your manager account.  When you’re ready, follow the instructions to link Firebase and AdWords.

Once your accounts are linked, you’ll be able to see AdWords data in Firebase, and you’ll be able to use Firebase data for conversion tracking and remarketing in AdWords.

Firebase and conversion tracking

You can import conversions from Firebase to see how your AdWords investment is driving app installs, in-app actions, and more. You can learn how well your ads are performing, and then make changes in your account to help drive more of these goals for your app.

Once you’ve linked accounts, you’ll be able to choose which Firebase events to track as conversion actions in AdWords. You won’t need to add any new code to your app. AdWords conversion tracking will use the code you’ve already installed for Firebase.

Firebase and remarketing

If you've linked Firebase to AdWords, you'll be able to use audiences created in Firebase for AdWords campaigns. A Firebase project can connect to multiple AdWords accounts or manager accounts. Each AdWords account will have access to audiences created in Firebase. Learn more About remarketing lists using Firebase data.
