Track conversions with the Facebook pixel
Before you begin
Conversion tracking can show you how successful your ad is by measuring actions you care about on your website, such as when someone makes a purchase, as a direct result of your ad. In this article, you'll learn how to use the Facebook pixel to track conversions for these three objectives: Boost your posts, Send people to your website and Increase conversions on your website.
Boost posts with conversion tracking
There are two ways to boost your post and use conversion tracking with your Facebook pixel.
- Go to your Page and find the post you want to boost.
- Click Boost Post.
- Set your audience, budget and duration.
- Under Tracking conversions, select your Facebook pixel.
- Click Boost.
- Go to Ads Manager.
- Select Boost your posts as your objective.
- Select your Page and post, and click Continue.
- Fill in your ad details, then scroll down to Conversion tracking.
- Tick the box under Track all conversions from my Facebook pixel.
- Click Place Order.
Your Facebook pixel will now automatically track all of the events caused by people who saw your ad.
Measure the people sent to your website with conversion tracking
- Go to Ads Manager.
- Select Send people to your website as your objective.
- Enter or select your website URL, then select your Facebook pixel and click Continue.
- Fill in your ad details, then click Place Order.
Your Facebook pixel will now automatically track all of the events caused by people who saw your ad.
Increase conversions on your website
When creating your campaign, choose Website Conversions as your objective. Next, enter your website's address and choose the type of conversion you want to optimise for. For example, if you'd like to optimise for sales, choose Purchase as your conversion event.
- Go to Ads Manager.
- Select Increase conversions on your website as your objective.
- Type in your website address and select the action that you'd like to track – your conversion (e.g. Purchase, Add to Basket)
- Click Continue.
- Fill in your ad details, then click Place Order.
- Your Facebook pixel will automatically track all the events caused by people who saw your ad.
You've now learnt how to successfully track conversions. After your campaign runs for a few hours, you'll be able to check your conversion results and see your website traffic data.
