Let your Facebook audiences message you on WhatsApp about your ad

Note: This feature is available to all advertisers creating ads from their Pages, on desktop, Android, iOS and the Pages Manager app.

As an advertiser on Facebook, you can add a call-to-action button to your ad creative to help your audience engage with you after seeing your ad.

The "Send Message" button with the WhatsApp icon lets people start a conversation with you in WhatsApp directly from a Facebook ad, making it easier for people to connect with your business or organisation.

To add a "Send Message" button to your ad creative:

  1. Go to your Facebook business Page.
  2. Find a post you want to boost.
  3. Select the Boost Post button on the post.
    • If the Boost Post button is faded and not clickable, it's likely that the post can't be boosted. There are a number of reasons why that's the case. Learn more about why your boost is unavailable.
  4. Look for the Add button option and select Send WhatsApp Messagefrom the drop-down menu.
    5. Note: The "Add button" option is only available for posts with external links, videos and single photos.

  5. Choose Add a new number, input your WhatsApp number, then choose Next.
    6. Note: Once you've linked your WhatsApp and Facebook, you won't have to add your mobile number again.

  6. You'll then receive a confirmation code on your WhatsApp. Add the code in the number confirmation pop-up, then click or tap Confirm.
    • You can change the WhatsApp number you added by choosing Change above the code input box.
    • If you did not receive a confirmation code, choose Send code again.

  7. Now that you've added a "Send WhatsApp Message" button to your ad, your audiences will be able to message you on your WhatsApp number once your ad has started running.

Notes:

  • Unlike other campaign types, you cannot target ads that click to WhatsApp to people under the age of 18
  • When you create a promotion with the "Send WhatsApp Message" button, Facebook will expand your targeting if there's a chance of reaching more people who are likely to send you a message. Learn more about targeting expansion.
