Why have I been charged twice for my Facebook ad?
If you're seeing multiple charges for your Facebook ad, here are a few things you can check to find out why. This article explains:
- Why you may see multiple charges of different amounts
- How to view your ad charges and payment history
- Why you may see multiple charges of the same amount
- How you're charged when you use an advertising coupon
- How to report a billing problem
Are you seeing multiple charges of different amounts?
This is most likely not an error, but the result of when we charge you for Facebook ads. There are two times you'll pay for your ads:
- On your monthly bill date.
- When the amount you've spent reaches your billing threshold.
The first case happens each month. The second case can happen multiple times a month or not at all depending on the amount that your billing threshold is set to and how much you're spending on ads.
Since it's possible to reach your billing threshold and be charged on your bill date, you may receive multiple charges in a given month. This is also why you can be charged after you purchase ads or even after you've stopped running them. Learn more about when you'll pay for Facebook ads.
Have you checked your receipt in Ads Manager to find out where the charges came from?
It's easy to see a detailed history of what you've been billed for, down to the ads that charges relate to. Here's how:
- Go to the Billing section of your Ads Manager.
- Choose the date range that you'd like to see transactions for.
- Click the Transaction ID for the charge you'd like more info about.
- From here, you can view the ads and details associated with each charge and see the reason why you were billed. You can even click into the ad sets and ads to view their performance and better understand how the charges were accumulated.

Have you been charged even though you had a coupon?
Once you add a coupon to your account, it'll be charged once a day when you start running ads. If it runs out or expires and you keep running ads, your primary payment method will be charged next. This may happen if your ad's budget was set higher than the value of your coupon. Learn more about how you're charged when you use an advertising coupon.
Are you seeing multiple charges of the same amount?
It's likely that these charges are associated with clicks that your ads received on different days. It's possible that one of these charges was delayed through your bank, which is why you can see two of the same charges on the same day.
