Run lead ads on Instagram

You can now run your lead ads across both the Facebook and Instagram placements. It's recommended that you use Automatic Placements when creating your lead ads. Automatic Placements will be selected by default and will automatically select the recommended placements for your ad based on your objective and creative. To help ensure that your lead ads appear on Instagram, make sure that your creative follows Instagram's design requirements.

To check whether you've selected Automatic Placements in ad creation, go to the Placements section at the Ad Set level.

Note: If you've selected Automatic Placements and checked to make sure that your creative assets will work on Instagram, there are no other steps that you'll need to take to get your lead ad to run on Instagram. Just complete your lead ad as usual following the steps on how to create a lead ad.

Currently, there are a few differences in functionality between leads ads on Facebook versus Instagram:

  • Not all of the pre-filled fields for lead ads are supported on Instagram. Instagram will support the following fields: Email address, Full name, Phone number and Gender. If you include additional fields (e.g. city or street address) in your lead ad, people will need to fill in the questions themselves when they open your ad on Instagram.
  • Your lead ad will look somewhat different on Instagram than on Facebook. On Facebook, to complete the instant form on your lead ad, people will be able to open your ad and scroll down it to fill in all of the sections. On Instagram, to complete the instant form, people will need to open your ad and click through a series of pages to complete it.
  • Lead ads are only available on the Instagram app. Your lead ads won't appear on Instagram's desktop site.
