Chapter 1: Understanding Ads Manager

30/11/2019

Welcome to Ads Manager!

Ads Manager is where you can view, make changes to and see results for all of your Facebook campaigns, ad sets and ads. With Ads Manager you can:

  • Create ads: Design ads that appear on the Facebook family of apps and services (including Instagram and Audience Network).
  • Manage ads: Edit your ads and update your images, audience, budget or schedule.
  • Measure results: View up-to-date data on the performance of your ads and schedule reports.

Note: Ads Manager supports multiple ad accounts. If you can't find a campaign, ad set or ad, make sure you switch to the correct ad account before you create or manage your ads.

When you visit Ads Manager, your ad account is grouped in four main tabs that follow the structure of Facebook ads:

Account overview

Your account overview contains a summary of activity for your ad account, such as the reach or amount spent for all ads you've created. Your account overview also includes a detailed breakdown of the amount you've spent on your ads over the past seven days and any spending limits you've set on the account.

Campaigns

In this tab, you can view and manage your campaigns. From here, you can:

  • Create a new campaign
  • Duplicate existing campaigns
  • Edit your campaign and update the name or add a spending limit
  • View insights to see how well your campaign is performing
  • Export or share your campaign results to Excel
  • Customise the columns and break down your results

Ad sets

In this tab, you can view and manage your ad sets for your campaigns. From here, you can:

  • Create a new ad set as part of an existing campaign
  • Duplicate ad sets
  • Edit your ad set and update the name, placement, budget, schedule and targeting
  • View insights to see how well your ad set is performing
  • Export or share your ad set results to Excel
  • Customise the columns and break down your results

Ads

In this tab, you can view and manage your ads for your ad sets. From here, you can:

  • Create a new ad as part of an existing ad set
  • Duplicate ads
  • Edit your ad and update the creative
  • View insights to see how well your ad is performing
  • Export or share your ad results to Excel
  • Preview your ad to see how it looks across eligible Facebook apps and services
  • Customise the columns and break down your results

When you select your campaigns, ad sets or ads, these tabs show the number you've selected and automatically filter your selections. For example, when you select a campaign, you can see the number of ad sets and ads in that campaign.

Now that you've seen Ads Manager, the next chapter explores the various tools you can use to manage your ads effectively in Ads Manager.
