There are a lot of ways to transform artwork in Illustrator, including flipping, rotating, shearing, and reflecting. You explored different types of transformations while assembling final artwork.

Flip content

You can flip selected artwork by clicking either the Flip Along Vertical Axis button or the Flip Along Horizontal Axis button in the Properties panel.

Rotate content

1. Rotate selected content by moving the Selection tool pointer just off a corner of the selected bounding box.
2. When the rotate arrows appear, drag to rotate. Press the Shift key as you drag if you want to snap the rotation to 45 degrees.

Reflect content around a specified point

1. With the artwork selected, select the Reflect tool in the Toolbar.
2. (Optional) Click the artwork to set the reflect-around point.
3. Drag to reflect the artwork. As you drag, press the Shift key to constrain the artwork to 45 degrees. When finished, release the mouse button and then the key.

Tip: To make a copy while reflecting, press the Option key (macOS) or Alt key (Windows) as you drag to reflect selected content. When finished, release the mouse button and then the key.

Create copies of artwork

• To make a copy of the artwork, press the Option key (macOS) or Alt key (Windows) as you drag the artwork. Release the mouse button and then the key.
• To repeat a transformation, choose Object > Transform > Transform Again.

Shear the content

1. With the content selected, click and hold the Rotate tool in the Toolbar to select the Shear tool.
2. Drag to shear the content. As you drag, press the Shift key to constrain the movement. Release the mouse button and then the key.
