Typekit is now Adobe Fonts.
Style your poster text creatively in Illustrator CC
Start with an expressive typeface in Adobe Illustrator CC. Format it using pro typography, and then dynamically transform the text to make your poster stand out from the crowd.
What you'll need
Open the practice file. If you wish to use the same fonts, you can Sync Fonts when prompted. Alternatively, select a font from your computer in the Character section of the Properties panel, or browse the vast Adobe Typekit library and explore some new typefaces. We chose a typeface from the Hidden Treasures of the Bauhaus Dessau collection available on Typekit.
Select different parts of the text to style it individually. Experiment with different character attributes, such as font size, leading (space between lines of text), and tracking (space between letters) to make the text airy. Don’t forget to investigate More Options (three dots) — we changed the text case all at once with the All Caps button.
To create the bold headline text, we duplicated both lines of text (Control/Command + C; Control/Command + V). After replacing the text with the Type tool, we selected both lines. First, we scaled it proportionally by pressing Shift while dragging the bounding box handles, and then rotated it (curved arrow). Finally, we positioned the striking headline in our poster layout.
With a few simple maneuvers, we transformed the default text to make an eye-catching and elegant poster.
