Use lead ads to understand where people want to shop

30/11/2019

Advertisers often qualify customers by whether they actively searched for a business. This action indicates intent and helps a business start a dialogue with a potential customer and prioritise research. Using the business locator feature with your lead ads campaigns can help you target potential customers in a location near them.

Say you're an automotive-focused advertiser, for example. You can use this feature to see whether people actively searched for a dealership, then use that intent to help the dealerships' sales agent follow up on and prioritise leads.

Benefits

  • Mobile-friendly: As people's time and attention shift to mobile, they increasingly expect mobile-optimised experiences. Rather than sending potential customers to slower-loading or less-effective websites, you can use lead ads to more efficiently help collect potential customers' information and intent.
  • CRM integration: If you're using a CRM, you can integrate the CRM with your lead ads to track new leads and form submissions in real time. This will allow you to retain and immediately act on customer information from interested people. Learn more about CRMs.
  • Contact form pre-fill feature: When someone fills in the contact form on your lead ad, Facebook can pre-fill fields with info from a person's Facebook profile. This may make it easier for people to complete your form.

Requirements

In order to use this feature, you'll need eligible Pages for multiple locations.

Setup

  1. In Business Manager, under the Business locations tab, select Add Locations to upload your business locations. You can upload your business locations manually per location, or by using CVS bulk upload. View this sample file.
  2. Begin creating a lead ads form.
  3. Advertisers in the US: Under the Content tab, tick the ZIP code field in order to ask a ZIP code (or postal code/postcode) question on your lead form.

Note: If you do not include the "ZIP code" field during setup, you will experience an error. The business locator feature only works if you tick this field, as a ZIP code is the only location mechanism used to associate with the closest business.

Advertisers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa: If you are using postal codes or postcodes, you should require this question. However, in order to set up for your region, click the Settings tab, then select Field IDs. Then fill in the Postcode section with the phrase "zip_code", as illustrated.
  4. In the Custom questions (optional) field, select Add Custom Question, then choose Store location to create a question to discuss your business location. Then choose Location manager as a connection setup.
  5. Click Finish in the top right-hand corner to complete your ad.
