Creative Hub

30/11/2019

Creative Hub is a collaborative tool to help your team mock up Facebook and Instagram ads that display well on all mobile and desktop platforms. You'll also find creative inspiration for our many ad formats.

About

Creative Hub is our platform to help you build winning ads. You can learn about our different ad formats, mock up your ideas and collaborate with your team before sending approved ads live.

We designed Creative Hub to support everyone from creative agency teams to small business marketers in the process of creating ads. Creative Hub makes the journey from great ideas to great ads shorter – offering features that empower marketers to build and preview ads efficiently.

  1. The inspiration you want and the information you need

Be inspired by standout creative ad examples across a range of ad formats from Instagram Stories to canvas and collection ads. You can also learn about ad specs and recommendations.

  2. Preview your ads on desktop and mobile

See your ads through the eyes of your customers by previewing mockups on Facebook and Instagram. Make sure that you test on mobile to optimise your ads for display and effectiveness.

  3. Easy collaboration with clients and teammates

Creative Hub also helps speed up the approval process by showing clients exactly what an idea will look like on both desktop and mobile. You can also start a Creative Hub project so you and your team can work together on mockups.

  4. Quick creative asset import

The import link tool allows you to send completed mockups live directly from Creative Hub to Ads Manager, our tool for running Facebook and Instagram ads. This streamlined process bypasses the need to send creative ad assets to media agencies, making the process more efficient and reducing the chance of mistakes being made when rebuilding ads.

Perks of Creative Hub for business

Share professional mockup previews

Send mockup previews that represent your business, not just you. The links you send will be shared from your business name, instead of your personal Facebook account.

Collaborate on mockups

Business users can organise mockups into projects for easy collaboration. Invite anyone on your team into a project, so that multiple people can work on a mockup together.

File access also protects you in case a team member goes on sick leave or leaves your business.

How to join Business Manager

  1. Find out if you're part of a Business Manager account

It's easy to switch between your personal account and your business account in the top navigation bar. The professional Creative Hub features will appear automatically after you switch.

If you can't see any options, double check that you signed in to Creative Hub using your business email.

  2. Get invited to an existing Business Manager account

Not seeing any businesses listed? You need an invite from an admin-level colleague. If your business works on Facebook and Instagram ads, it's very likely that someone in your company has already created a Business Manager account.

Someone with admin permission needs to invite you to join Business Manager using your work email.

If you're a small agency, the admin in your company might be your CEO. It could be one of your campaign planners or paid social experts, or someone from the digital or social media team.

Due to privacy reasons, we can't disclose who the admins of your Business Manager account might be. You will need to directly ask the people in your company who work with Facebook. It could be that the admins have left the business; in which case, learn how to change someone's role.

Once you find the right person, send them this step-by-step guide to invite you to join Business Manager.

You will receive email confirmation once you've been invited.

  3. Create a Business Manager account

It's free to set up your company on Business Manager and only takes a few minutes.

If you don't think you're the right person to set up the account at an admin level, ask one of your colleagues for help. To start your company's account, go to Business Manager overview and select Create account.

Remember to invite all your colleagues who work on Facebook and Instagram ads too, using their work emails.

Other benefits of Business Manager

Business Manager helps companies manage ad accounts, Pages and the people who work on them – all in one place. You'll have access to our Audience Insights tool, which shows you data about people you're targeting. Learn more about the benefits of Business Manager for anyone who works with Facebook and Instagram ads.

Create mockups

Create a mockup

To create a mockup:

  1. Go to Creative Hub. You may need to select an account.
  2. Click the Create Mockup button in the top right and select the ad format that you'd like to design in the drop-down menu.
  3. Click Untitled at the top to give your mockup a memorable name.
  4. Add the Facebook Page name you're designing for.
  5. Click to upload a profile picture to represent the Facebook Page or Instagram account you're designing for. The image should be at least 180 x 180 pixels.
  6. Add your creative, including text, images, videos and links. You can click on images to crop them.

Creative assets can only be uploaded one at a time. Uploading may take a few minutes, so the changes you make might not immediately appear in the preview on the right.

  7. Click Save and name your mockup.
  8. (Optional) Test how your ad displays. Click Send to mobile to deliver it to the Facebook app or Instagram app on your phone. Learn how to preview a mockup.

You have created a mockup. Click Manage mockups in the top left to see it saved with your other mockups.

Ready to run the ad? You can now create an import link to use to import your mockup into Ads Manager.

Previewing Creative Hub mockups helps you make sure that they display well on mobile and desktop, across Facebook and Instagram. Previewing helps you understand how people will experience the ad in news feeds. It also helps you communicate your ideas with colleagues, which can make the approval process easier.

Preview links can't be used to import your ad into Ads Manager for publication. For that, you need to create an import link. Learn how

Get started:

  1. Go to Creative Hub.
  2. Click Create mockup in the top right.
  3. Create and save your mockup.
  4. Click in the top-right to open a mockup preview page in a new tab. The preview page allows you and your team to preview the mockup on a computer.

If you just need to copy the link to the preview page, click .

  5. Click Send to mobile in the top-right to deliver the mockup to your Facebook or Instagram app on your phone. Find it in Notifications, at the base of your screen; click on Facebook or on Instagram. On Facebook, you'll see your mockup embedded in a mock News Feed to give you a sense of how people will see your ad.

  6. If colleagues or clients want to see your mockup on their mobile, generate a link to share with them (see step 4, or use the button Copy Preview URL). Anyone can open the link – they don't have to be part of your ad account – so be careful who you share it with. When they open the mockup preview page, they can click the Send to Mobile button to deliver the mockup to their Facebook app or Instagram app.

On the left, the preview page also offers a Placement preview feature that allows you to see what the ad will look like on a mobile screen. Of course, this is no substitute for testing on a real mobile device.

  7. Use the Download PNG button to download your mockup.
  8. You might see an Edit Mockup button on the Preview page. Click it if you want to make changes. People you share the preview with in your Business Manager account may also see this button. However, if the mockup is within a project and they're not part of the project team, they will need to request access before they can make any changes.

You can also generate a link to preview mockups on a computer in Manage mockups. Tick the box beside your chosen mockup and click Preview mockup.

Preview links are not password protected, so be careful who you share them with. They expire after three months.

If you're happy with your preview, create a link to import your ad into Ads Manager. Learn how

You can also preview all the mockups in a project at once. Learn how

Creative Hub can be used professionally, using a Business Manager account, or for personal use using your Facebook login.

Before you begin

Your mockups will be stored within the account that you're logged in to while you work. It's important to log in to the correct account because you can't move mockups from one account to another. If you switch accounts before you save your mockup, you will lose your work.

Switch accounts

To switch accounts:

  1. See which account you're using by checking the profile picture by in the top right:

    • If you're logged in to your Business Manager account, you'll see the profile picture of your business
    • If it's your personal account, your Facebook profile picture will appear.
  2. Click on your preferred account in the drop-down menu.

You have switched accounts.

To access your mockups, click Manage mockups in the top left. Again, you won't see all your mockups here, just those saved to the account you're logged in to.

Manage projects

Here are common terms you might encounter using Creative Hub.

  • Ad accounts are sub-categories within a Business Manager account. For example, you might have a Business Manager account for your marketing agency and ad accounts for all the clients you're working for.
  • Ads Manager is the website where you run Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network and Messenger ads. Creative Hub is separate to Ads Manager, so you need to create an import link to move Creative Hub mockups into Ads Manager.
  • Business Manager accounts uniquely identify businesses on Facebook. Anyone can use Creative Hub with their personal Facebook account, but there are some professional features that you can only access when you use Creative Hub with a Business Manager account.
  • An import link is a link you can use to import your mockup into Ads Manager, so you or your colleagues/clients can buy it.
  • A mockup is a design for a Facebook, Instagram or Audience Network ad developed in Creative Hub. To turn this mockup into an ad, you must create an import link.
  • A preview is a link that lets you and your team see how your ads display on desktop or mobile. It's not the same as an import link, which allows you to run your mockup as an ad in Ads Manager.
  • A project is a group of one or more mockups which people in your organisation can collaborate on.

To make sure that only the right people can access your mockup, look at the top to see where the mockup will be stored when you click Create mockup:

  • If your Private folder is open, your mockup will be saved in Private. This is the best option if you're not ready for other people to view, edit or import your mockup yet. You can then move it into a project when you're ready to collaborate.
  • If your project folder is open, your mockup will be saved in this project. Everyone within the project will have permission to view, edit and import it as soon as you save it.
  • If you create a mockup from the format or inspiration galleries, it will automatically be saved in Private.

You can open the folder and find your mockup(s) inside.

If you select at the top of your folder, you can also do this by dragging and dropping your mockup(s) into the folders on the left.

Note: If you're logged in to Creative Hub using your personal account and you have Business Manager accounts, you'll see a Move to business option instead of Move to. Version control is important if several people are working on a Creative Hub mockup. Tools are available to track who changed what, when.

Find out if anyone changed your mockup

To find out if anyone has changed your mockup:

  1. Go to Manage mockups.

  2. Click on your project on the left to open it. You'll see your mockups listed and a Last changed column, giving the initials of the last person to change it (hover over them for the full name) and the date and time.

  3. Open your mockup. You'll see the same details at the top; when the mock up was last changed and the initials of the person who last changed it.

Now you know who last changed your mockup, version control will be easier.

Note: It's possible that another team member might change your mockup while you're working on it. If so, you will see this message when you try to save a mockup, warning you that someone else made a change:

To override their version, click Save Anyway.

To leave their version unedited, click Create a Copy to continue working in a copy of the mockup.
