About new standard events and changes to conversion metrics

These changes are gradually being introduced and may not apply to your account yet.

Introducing new standard events

In September 2018 we introduced more ways to understand the actions that people take on your website, in your app or at your shop with eight new standard events: Contact, Customise Product, Donate, Find Location, Schedule, Start Trial, Submit Application and Subscribe. These new standard events will help you understand how your customers engage with your business both online and offline. Learn more about app events and pixel events.

Introducing changes to Ads Reporting

People's behaviour is becoming increasingly omni-channel: a person can see an ad on mobile, click to view content on mobile, then complete the purchase transaction on web or offline (or sometimes both). In conjunction with the new events, we are launching new omni-channel metrics across web, mobile, offline and on-Facebook channels to better measure customers' purchase paths across channels.

  • New Customise column interface in Ads reporting: To make it easier to find and select metrics you care about
  • New omni-channel metrics for standard and custom events: To align more closely with omni-channel customer behaviour
  • Replacing web, mobile and offline "cost per" and "unique cost per" metrics with omni-channel versions: To better measure outcomes and spend efficiency as people increasingly shop across channels
  • Removing some types of conversion metrics: To help you focus on the metrics that measure business outcomes
