The following features will be available in Ads Manager in April:
Dynamic creative and Placement Asset Customisation (PAC) functionality within import/export
- Dynamic creative within the import/export feature in Ads Manager is now available globally. Dynamic creative is a tool in the updated Ads Manager that automatically delivers the best combinations of your creative assets. This means you can easily bulk import or export all of your asset variables without having to enter them individually.
- Placement Asset Customisation (PAC) within import/export is also now available globally. PAC conveniently allows you to choose tailored images or videos for some placements within one ad set.
There are three Ads Manager updates to highlight for the month of March:
- The unification of Ads Manager and Power Editor into the updated Ads Manager is now available globally – We've combined the ad creation and editing features of Power Editor with the ease of use and familiarity of Ads Manager within a single user interface, which is stronger, easier to use and quick to adapt to your needs. Details about this new interface can be found in the January entry of this article.
- Improvements to our bulk editing functionality: We've expanded our bulk editing functionality so that you can edit more ad set and ad level fields in bulk than before to help you save time when managing and editing a high volume of campaigns.
Dynamic creative ads in Ads Manager and the API: Dynamic creative is a tool in the updated Ads Manager that automatically delivers the best combinations of your creative assets. It finds the best ad creative combinations by taking the components of the ad (images, videos, titles, descriptions, CTAs etc.) and running different combinations of these assets across audiences.
It is currently available in the quick creation workflow in Ads Manager. You can access this feature by selecting one of the eligible campaign objectives (Conversions, App Installs, Traffic) in Ads Manager, or through an API marketing partner/solutions provider.
In September 2017, we introduced the updated Ads Manager interface, which combines the features of Power Editor and Ads Manager. As we continue to roll out this interface to all advertisers, there are a few features that advertisers should review:
- Creating ads: There are two potential workflows for ad creation – guided creation and quick creation. Guided creation is similar to the original Ads Manager workflow and walks advertisers through the entire creation process. Quick creation allows you to create campaigns quickly and then create ad sets and ads at a later time. Learn more about creating ads in the updated Ads Manager.
- Editing ads: When you want to edit your ads, you can make edits and publish these changes immediately, or you can make edits and save the changes for publishing later. Learn more about editing your ads in the updated Ads Manager.
- Using reports: Reports are located in Ads reporting under the main menu of Ads Manager. You can also create and customise reports in Ads reporting. Learn more about building reports.
We're combining Ads Manager and Power Editor into one platform called "Ads Manager", so that it is easier to create and manage your ads in one place. As we gradually roll out the new interface, advertisers may notice some differences.
So what does this mean for you? If you're currently using Power Editor, you won't notice any changes with ad creation and management, except for the new name. If you're currently using Ads Manager, you may notice some new features:
- New workflow for creating ads: The updated Ads Manager allows you to create a draft campaign and then later create your ad sets and ads. You can use this workflow if you're an experienced advertiser, and you want the option to complete campaign steps out of order. You can also use the original ad creation workflow.
- Review and publish: When you make edits in the editing side panel, you can just click Publish to publish changes. For some actions outside of the side panel, including importing ads and duplicating ads, you'll need to review changes under Review and publish and confirm the changes. Learn more about changing your ads.
Improvements to the table in Power Editor
Power Editor now contains some of the same reporting features from Ads Manager. When you visit Power Editor, you'll be able to:
- See the results of all ads in your ad account in the Account Overview tab.
- Customise the columns in the reporting table to see the metrics you care about.
- Use breakdowns to see the age of your audience, where they are viewing your ads, what devices they are using and much more.
- Use suggested columns to see more data about your ads based on your objective, ad creative and more.
- Create and save filters to search for specific ads or campaigns based on objective, delivery and more.
- Create reports and export data about your ads directly in Power Editor.
As you use these features in Power Editor, you may notice some differences from Ads Manager:
- You can't view overall ad performance data by age, gender, location and time in the Account Overview tab like you can in Ads Manager.
- Saved filters from Ads Manager do not carry over to Power Editor.
- When you export your ad performance data to a CSV or Excel file, some columns can't be exported.
These changes are being rolled out gradually and may not be available to you yet.
Redesigned table in Power Editor
Power Editor has a new look and feel for the reporting table. Now when you visit Power Editor, you'll see the following changes:
- The toggle to turn your ads on or off has been moved.
- The columns have been reorganised in the table.
- The columns are no longer split up into different reporting groups (such as Performance or Creative assets).

New design in Ads Manager
Ads Manager is now organised to help you work faster. When you need to find your campaigns, ad sets and ads, you can click the tabs in Ads Manager.
When you select your campaigns, ad sets or ads, Ads Manager automatically filters and shows your selected campaigns, ad sets and ads in each tab to make finding them easier.
For example, when you select a campaign, you can see the number of ad sets and ads in that campaign.
On the right-hand side of Ads Manager, you can open the toolbar to edit your ads, view the results of your ads in rich, visual charts and see a timeline of all updates made to your ads. When you want to edit your ad or view your overall advertising performance or history, click to tick the box next to the ad, then click .

Showcase your products with a collection ad
Collection is a new ad format combining a video, slideshow or image with product images taken from a product catalogue on mobile. Collection is ideal for retail or e-commerce advertisers who want to show an inspirational video or image alongside their products.
Collection can help you:
- Drive product discovery on mobile: Pair video or imagery with relevant products for a more engaging experience
- Deliver a seamless browsing experience on mobile: People who tap on your ad can browse more products in a fast-loading, full-screen experience, without leaving the Facebook app.
- Convert demand into sales: Get the most interested customers to continue to purchase on your website or app.
Learn more about advertising with collection.
Prevent ads from running next to certain types of content
You can now block your in-stream video, Instant Articles or Audience Network ad from running next to certain types of content by choosing the Exclude categories option under the Edit placements section of your ad set. Depending on your placement, you can block these categories:
- Dating
- Gambling
- Mature
- Tragedy and Conflict
- Debatable Social Issues
Note: If you choose in-stream video as your placement, you won't be able to apply dating and gambling exclusions to the placement.

Changes to objectives
Some marketing objectives have been moved into similar objectives:
- Local awareness → Reach
- Offer claims → Traffic and Conversions
- Mobile app engagement → Traffic and Conversions
- Mobile/desktop app installs → App installs
These changes don't affect any existing campaigns that you're running.
